ADVANCED BARTENDING SEMINAR: TECHNIQUES, MIXOLOGY & FLAVOR DEVELOPMENT

This seminar is designed to enhance theoretical knowledge, refine modern mixing techniques, and develop the palate of experienced bartenders. It is intended for professionals with at least three years of cocktail experience, or for those who have completed Bartending Level 1 with a minimum of six months of industry experience.

The training covers:

  • Spirits theory and tasting.
  • Advanced cocktail preparation beyond classic recipes.
  • Homemade ingredient techniques.
  • Introduction to modern mixology methods for efficient production and innovative recipe development.
  • Speed cocktail bartending training for managing high-volume service while maintaining quality.

5-DAY PROGRAM

  • Day 1: In-depth spirits education and tasting.
  • Days 2 & 3: Advanced bartending techniques, expanding on Bartending Level 1 fundamentals.
  • Day 4: Hands-on training in homemade ingredient preparation and culinary-inspired techniques (infusions, spherification, syrup variations).
  • Day 5: Practical application of all learned skills – creation of signature cocktails, menu development, and cocktail competition preparation.

DAY 1 – SPIRITS ANALYSIS & TASTING
This module explores the history, production processes, and sensory characteristics of alcoholic beverages. Through guided tastings, participants will gain in-depth knowledge of key spirit categories, including:

  • Whiskey
  • Rum
  • Gin
  • Vodka
  • Tequila/Mezcal
  • Brandy/Cognac
  • Liqueurs, Aperitifs & Vermouth
  • Local products

Focus areas: fundamentals of alcohol, distillation techniques, and how different spirits influence cocktail creation.

DAYS 2 & 3 – MODERN BARTENDING & THE EVOLUTION OF COCKTAILS

  • History of bartending and cocktail culture.
  • Evolution of drink mixing and global trends.
  • Study of cocktail families and modifier categories.
  • Modern mixology & molecular mixology techniques.
  • Practical training in Classic, Prohibition, Tiki, Modern Classic, Disco & Contemporary Cocktails.
  • Speed cocktail techniques & bar efficiency.
  • Sales training: enhancing customer interaction and optimizing service.

DAY 4 – HOMEMADE INGREDIENTS & INFUSIONS

  • Creation of homemade products for cocktail programs.
  • Infusions, syrups, tinctures, and other handcrafted ingredients.
  • Advanced preparation & preservation techniques.
  • Production methods to maximize efficiency and creativity.

DAY 5 – SIGNATURE CREATIONS & MENU DEVELOPMENT

  • Application of all learned skills in signature cocktail creation.
  • Cocktail menu design: balancing creativity, profitability & customer appeal.
  • Final practical: competition-style presentations focusing on speed, technique, and presentation.

SEMINAR MATERIALS, CERTIFICATION & ATTENDANCE POLICY

  • Each participant will receive the Bartending Level 2 Book, which includes the full curriculum, as well as the official Bar Academy Cocktails Recipe Book.
  • Participants who successfully complete the full training program and pass both the theoretical and practical assessments will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. If the required criteria are not met, the certificate will not be issued.
