Thanos Tzanetopoulos has recently taken on the role of Assistant Bar Manager at the American Bar at The Savoy in London, becoming part of the leadership team of one of the world’s most historic and iconic bars. With a history dating back to 1893, the American Bar has long been associated with the evolution of cocktail culture and modern hospitality, standing as a global point of reference for bartending for more than a century.

The Bar Academy team spoke with him about this new professional chapter and his experience in London, where he has been based for the past six and a half years.

“The Savoy and, consequently, the American Bar, is, for many of us in the industry, an iconic bar. I always saw it as the ultimate destination because of its history, its longevity, and everything it has contributed to our industry over the years. When I was given the opportunity to join its leadership team six months ago, I naturally felt honoured, but also a tremendous sense of responsibility, something I feel every single day I’m there. At the same time, I’m very happy because we have built a strong team and we have many plans, both for the immediate and the long-term future, in order to continue and further evolve this journey, always with respect for the legacy that the American Bar has built since 1893.”

His presence in such a historically significant and influential venue highlights yet another professional journey shaped through the contemporary international bar scene and the continuous evolution of bartending as a profession.
